Bee and Clover Mug // Canyon Clay

About the Mug: Wheel thrown stoneware mug with cream colored slip brushwork over clover leaves and bee design.  The inside is glazed with a white glossy liner glaze; the outside is cream slip and raw golden orange stoneware clay body.  I used a diamond sanding pad to sand the outside smooth and velvety to the touch. A larger sized mug, this will hold a generous 16 ounces of liquid.

About the Design: Bees are a powerhouse pollinators that our food supply depends on but many colonies have died unexpectedly in recent years.  Climate change and wide spread use of pesticides are suspected.  To learn more and help out, go here.

Clover are not only an important cover crop for farmers, helping to improve poor quality soil organically, they also provide food for bee populations. Fields of crimson clover are a stunning visual landscape element here in the Willamete valley in the spring and summer.

Taking Care: This listing is for the piece pictured.  It is microwave and dishwasher safe but as dishwashers are hard on ceramics, hand washing will prolong the life of your piece.  It is handmade and as such each piece is unique and beautifully imperfect.  Thank you so much for choosing handmade!
