Hypericum Mug // Black Clay

About the Mug: Wheel thrown black clay mug with warm white slip brushed over Hypericum flower design. The inside is glazed with a glossy white liner glaze. I used a diamond sanding pad to sand the outside so it is smooth and velvety to the touch. A larger sized mug, this will hold a generous 16 ounces of liquid.

About the Design: Hypericum, also commonly known as St. John’s Wort, is both a medicinal and dye plant, and depending on where it’s growing, a weed. The oil used externally is great for sore muscles and the tincture taken internally helps cleanse the liver and uplift the depressed spirit. I love it for it’s bright sunny little flowers and warming reminders of summer when the medicine is used in the cold dark of winter.

Taking Care: This mug is dishwasher and microwave safe. It is handmade every step of the way in my little backyard studio in Portland, Or. Thank you as always for supporting handmade.
